Directory Privacy Notice
This notice covers the Sikh Center public directory of businesses, professionals, schools and public figures. It is separate from the privacy policy that governs member accounts and the matrimonial service.
What the directory contains
Business and professional listings compiled from public sources — open registries (such as company registers) and open map data (OpenStreetMap). Listings include information such as name, category, and location. We do not publish reviews or ratings, and we never infer or display a person’s religion or ethnicity from their name.
Legal basis
We publish this directory on the basis of legitimate interests: a public-interest directory that helps the diaspora find Punjabi-speaking businesses and professionals, built from information that is already public. Individuals (professionals, public figures) are listed only where there is a verification basis — a public record or the person’s own self-identification — never from a name signal alone.
Attribution & licensing
Sourced listings carry their source’s required attribution (for example, “© OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL)” or the UK Open Government Licence). We honor each source’s redistribution and share-alike terms.
Your rights — access, correction, objection, erasure
You can ask us to correct your listing, object to it, or have it removed. Submit a request at /data-request. We honor removals on a normalized identity, so a listing you asked us to remove stays removed even if the same public record is re-ingested later.
If you own a business listing, you can also claim it to manage what it shows.
Out of scope
Matrimonial profiles are user-generated and consent-only — they are never sourced from public data and are not covered by this notice. See the account privacy policy.
